Bio:
Dj MbM is not your average dj.
Growing up in a musically eclectic family, music has always been a part
of his life. Born and raised in Colorado, It wasn't until 1999 that he
discovered his niche in music. His first rave he attended was "The
Freaky-Deaky Dance" where he got to see djs Swamp, Bad Boy Bill, and the
djs of the Planet of the Drums Tour. That's when he new THIS is what he
wanted to do.
He began throwing parties at his high school with a group of friends,
bringing in new talent and local headliners from around Colorado. Then
in 2002, after moving to Seattle, he vicariously met up with Ticus and
began what has become Nalij Productions, acting as not only a dj but as
the graphic designer. Since then, he has helped organized multiple
events, encompassing everything from electronica, live bands, acoustic
acts and hip-hop.
The root of music to him is more than important, it's crucial. “Anyone
can push buttons and make a million. A true artist wants to know more
about their medium. Understanding the history, evolution, technology and
the future develops respect; all roots of Nalij. And just because it's
not MY favorite song/style, doesn't mean that nobody likes it.”
Although break-beats are his fav (DNB, Breaks, Hip-Hop), he strives to
play all styles, free-style. Dark, booming, earth-shaking bass and
gritty-grimey drum-lines make this dj's heart go pitter-patter.
